Admission Eligibility Criteria

Admission Terms and Condition
Minimum education eligibility criteria for admission to GNM:

  • 10+2 with English and must have obtained a minimum of 40% at the qualifying examination and English individually from any recognized board. Candidates are also eligible from the State Open School recognized by the State Government and the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by the Central Government.
    However, Science is preferable.
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in vocational ANM course from the school recognized by Indian Nursing Council
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
  • 10+2 with English having 40% of marks in Vocational Stream-Health care Science from a recognized CBSE board/State/Centre
  • Registered ANM with pass mark.

For foreign nationals

  • The entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard will be obtained by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Institution, State Nursing Council will be responsible to ensure that the qualification and eligibility will be equivalent to what has been prescribed above
  • Reservation
    • For disabled candidates: 3% Disability reservation to be considered with a disability of locomotor to the tune of 40% to 50% of the lower extremity and other eligibility criteria with regard to age and qualification will be same as prescribed for each nursing program.
      Note: A committee to be formed consisting of a medical officer authorized by the medical board of state government and a nursing expert in the panel which may decide whether the candidates have the disability of locomotor of 40% to 50%.
    • 5% of total marks is relaxed for SC/ST candidates c) Any other reservation as per the State Govt.
      Note: Reservation shall be applicable within the sanctioned number of the seats by INC and not above it.
  • Admission of students shall be once a year.
  • Students shall be medically fit.
  • Minimum age for admission will be 17 years. (as on 31st December of that year) The upper age limit is 35 yrs. For ANM/ for LHV, there is no age bar.

Curriculum

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
This course is designed to help students gain knowledge of the structure and function of the human body and recognize any deviation from normal health in order to render effective nursing services.

MICROBIOLOGY
This course is designed to help students gain knowledge and understanding of the characteristics and activities of micro- organisms, how they react under different conditions and how they cause different disorders and diseases. Knowledge of these principles will enable student to understand and adopt practices associated with preventive and promotive health care.

PSYCHOLOGY
This course is designed to help students understand the dynamics of human behavior and concept of mental health. This shall enable them to develop positive attitude and good inter – personal relationships in the practice of nursing in all health care settings.

SOCIOLOGY
This course is designed to help student gain an understanding of sociology in the context of its relevance to nursing practice.

FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSINGS
This course is designed to help students develop an ability to meet the basic health need of the patients with regard to nursing care and develop skill in the competencies required for rendering effective patient care.

FIRST AID
Course Description This course is designed to help students develop and understanding of community emergencies and be able to render first aid services as and when need arises.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING – I
This course is designed to help students gain an understanding of the concept of community health in order to introduce them to the wider horizons of rendering nursing services in a community set – up, both in urban and rural areas.

HEALTH EDUCATION AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS
This course is designed to help students to
1. Acquire the concept of health education and develop an ability to select and/or prepare appropriate audio-visual aids and use them effectively to communicate with the individuals and community
2. Understand the principles of communication and counseling, and its application in nursing practice.

NUTRITION
This course is designed to help students understand that nutrition is an integral component of health as nutrients play a vital role in the growth, development and maintenance of the body.

COMPUTER EDUCATION
This course is designed to help students gain a basic understanding of uses of computers and its application in nursing.

ENGLISH
This course is designed to help the student understand and usage of English language required for their professional work.

NUSING FOUNDATIONS (PRACTICAL)
This course is designed to help the students to acquire knowledge, attitude and skills in techniques of nursing and practice them in clinical settings.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING (practical)
The students will be allotted families for gaining experience in identifying family health needs, health counseling and guidance and family budgeting for optimum health.

The students will participate in the activities of primary health centre, Sub-centre, MCH Centre.
Visits will be made to selected health and welfare agencies, water purification plant and sewage disposal plant, infectious disease hospital.
Conduct health educational programs for individual/groups/community.

Computer Education (PRACTICAL)
Upon completion of this course, the students shall able to describe the basic disk operating system. Use computer for data processing. Use Micro-soft office programs. Use computer in patient Management System. Use E-mail and internet

MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING- I
This course shall help students understand the concept of disease and disease process, Students shall be able to gain knowledge and develop understanding of various medical, surgical disorders and disease. They shall be able to give comprehensive nursing care to patient with these diseases.

MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING- II
This course shall help students understand the concept of disease and disease process, Students shall be able to gain knowledge and develop understanding of various medical surgical specialty disorders and disease. They shall be able to give comprehensive nursing care to patient with these diseases.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING
This course is designed to help students develop and understanding of the concept of child health, the trends in child care and the health problems of children. This shall enable the students to meet the needs of the children, in health and sickness.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING
This course enable the students to recognize and appreciate the causes, symptoms and process of abnormal human behavior. This course helps the student to learn principles of mental health and psychiatric nursing and to develop beginning skills in the management of the mentally ill in hospital and community.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING (Practical)
The student will:-

  • Be posted in pediatric medical and surgical ward, OPD in hospital, health centre and neonatalunit.
  • Visit a centre for handicapped children and child welfare centre and write observation report.
  • Write an observation study of normal children of various age groups in home/nursery school/ crèche.

MEDICAL SURGICAL NURSING (practical)

  • Students should rotated in the selected medical and surgical areas, like cardio thoracic,

  • Burns and Reconstructive surgical units.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING (practical)
The student will be provided opportunity to:
Observe, record and report the behavior of their selected patients. Record the process of interaction
Assess the nursing needs of their selected patients, plan and implement the nursing intervention.
Write observation report after a field visit to the following places: Child guidance clinic,
School/Special Schools (For Mentally subnormal) Mental Hospital Community mental health centres, De-addiction centre.

MIDWIFERY AND GYNECOLOGICAL NURSING
This course is designed to help students acquire knowledge and gain skills to meet the needs of women during pregnancy, labor and puerperium and care for the newborn.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
This course is designed to help students to practice community health nursing for the individual, family and groups at both the urban and rural settings by using concepts and principles of health and community health nursing.

MIDWIFERY & GYNAECOLOGICAL NURSING- PRACTICAL
The students will be posted in antenatal clinic, antenatal ward, labour room, postnatal ward, maternity OT, MTProom. Visit welfare agencies for women and report. Antenatal and post-natal examination, per vaginalexam.
Conduct normal delivery, stitching of episiotomy, (For male candidates minimum conduct of 5 deliveries)

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING (practical)
The students will be allotted families for gaining experience in identifying family health needs, health counseling and guidance and family budgeting for optimum health. The students will participate in the activities of primary health centre, Sub-centre, MCH Centre. INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH Course
This course is designed to develop fundamental abilities and attitude in the students towards scientific methods of investigation and utilization of research finding so as to improve practice of nursing.

Visit sgcollege.edu.in/ SGCADMIT. Sign up or register with basic details (i.e. name, email id, mobile no., state, gender, and password). Login to the SGCADMIT with an already created username/ password. * Your email id will act as your username for the portal while the password will be set by you upon registration.

Step 2 – Book Your Slot

After successfully creating your candidate SGCADMITprofile, you’ll be taken to registration fee page. Pay your fees by logging into the dashboard and complete your profile.

Step 3 – University Examination (PPMET)

After successfully booking the seat, the candidates have to fill the PPMET application form. The link for registration shall be available/sent on your profile and email.

Step 4 – Counselling

Upon successfully clearing the PPMET exam, you have to apply for counseling through your SGC portal, followed by SOP uploading.

Step 5 – Admission

You become eligible for admission into Saraswati Group of Colleges after the declaration of counseling result and submission of requisite fees.
