Why is Nursing and Pharmacy one of the best career options for PCB students?

There are many courses & career options available after 12th (Intermediate). If you are a science student who has passed his 12th class, then you can go for many medical courses after 12th other than MBBS, BDS.

Apart from many degree courses after 12th there are many medical & paramedical courses that one can choose after his/her 12th. Nursing & Pharmacy are such medical courses which are high in demand. As the Indian pharmaceutical industry is growing at a rapid rate, the demand for qualified pharma professionals is huge in this sector. Candidates can pursue pharmacy courses either after 10th or 12th.

Diploma in Pharmacy

Candidates can pursue a diploma in pharmacy after 10th (Science) or after 12th. This is a 3 year diploma course in pharmacy. After completion of this course candidates can go for a bachelor degree in pharmacy by pursuing B.Pharma.


Bachelor of pharmacy or B.Pharm is a UG degree course in pharmacy. The minimum eligibility for this course is to have passed 12th with PCB subjects. The admission to this course is based on the merit or university level pharmacy entry test. The time duration for the B.Pharm course is 4 years.


Master of or M.Pharm is a PG degree course in pharmacy. The time duration for this course is 2 years. The minimum eligibility to pursue this course is to have B. Pharm degree.


Nursing is also one of the best career options for the PCB students after  class 12th. Nursing is quite popular among the medical aspirants who do not want to pursue MBBS or BDS courses. Nursing is a highly demanding career both in the public & private sector because of the rising medical & healthcare sector of india.

The demand for qualified nursing staff has been very high since the last two years and will keep on increasing in the future as well. Some nursing  courses that one can pursue are listed below.


Auxiliary nursing midwifery known as ANM is a two year undergraduate diploma course in nursing. For pursuing this course one has to pass class 12th (science) with at least 50% aggregate marks.


General nursing midwifery known as GNM is a 3 year diploma course in nursing. For admission to this course one must have completed 12th with PCB with minimum 50% marks.

The admission in most of the universities is based on merit or university level entrance test.

B.SC Nursing

Bachelor in Nursing science is a 4 year UG degree course in nursing. The minimum eligibility to pursue this course is to have Physics, Chemistry & Biology in 10+2 level. After completing this course you can work as a nurse in hospitals, clinics or in any organization as a registered nurse.
