Program Overview
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (abbreviated as BPT) at Saraswati Group of Colleges is a 4.5 year undergraduate program in which students learn to deal with the physical movement of the human body aiming to cure disorders of the patients. Affiliated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot, our program combines theory with hands-on training to refine the candidates’ intellectual, analytical, and managing skills. The major subjects taught in our Bachelor of Physiotherapy program are Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Electrotherapy, Pathology & Microbiology, Pharmacology, Research Methodology, Yoga & Naturopathy, and more.
Admission Eligibility Criteria
He/She should have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination recognized by any Indian University or a duly constituted Board with a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their main subjects.

Curriculum
Anatomy Theory
It will provide students with the working knowledge of the structure of the human body, which is an essential foundation for their clinical studies.
Physiology Theory
The course in Physiology over the first year is designed to give the student an in-depth knowledge of fundamental reactions of living organisms, particularly in the human body.
Biochemistry
The course begins with the basic and clinical aspects of the biochemical disorder in the human body. The students are then introduced to the advanced biochemical diagnosis procedure and clinical measures and their usage in the physiotherapeutic evaluation process.
Electrotherapy-I
The course begins with the theoretical study of basic biophysics, laws of electricity, electromagnetic spectrum, and electrotherapy equipment.
Exercise therapy-I
The course begins with the basic and clinical aspects of exercise therapy in the human body.
English
The Communication Skills Course aims to augment students overall communication and interpersonal skills by making them realize the importance of good oral and written English communication skills in professional life.

Pathology & Microbiology
The course begins with the theoretical study of introduction to pathology and microbiology, which is widely utilized in all medical applications.
Pharmacology
Pharmacology will make the student understand various classes of drugs, their routes of administration, dosage, and adverse reaction.
Electro therapy –II
In this course, the student will learn the Principles, Techniques, Effects, Indication, Contra-Indication, and the dosage parameter for various indications of electro therapeutic modalities in the restoration of physical function.
Exercise therapy-II
Students will be able to understand the different types of exercise for the benefit of the patient in different situations and conditions both in health and disease or disorder.
Biomechanics
Biomechanics involves the study of basic concepts of human movement and the application of various biomechanical principles in the evaluation and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
Sociology & Psychology
The study of these subjects will help the student to understand their clients while assessing and planning appropriate treatment methods.
Orthopedics
The course begins with the basics of orthopedics and traumatology, classification of fractures, and soft tissue injuries.
General Medicine
The course begins with the theoretical study of the various metabolic, infectious and nutritional disorders.
PT in Ortho Conditions
This course is about Identifying disabilities due to musculoskeletal dysfunction, planning and setting treatment goals, and applying those skills gained in exercise therapy and electrotherapy in these clinical situations to restore musculoskeletal function.
PT in Medical Conditions
This course is designed to introduce the students to general and pediatric rehabilitation.
Research
In this course, the student will about the research and its significance in the physiotherapy profession.
General Surgery
This subject will help students to gain knowledge of blood transfusion, wound healing, prevention of infections along with the various surgical incisions.
Neurology
The course begins with the theoretical study of the general neurological assessment, diagnosis, and medical management.
PT in Neurological Conditions
The course begins with the introduction of Neuromuscular sciences physiotherapy and the role of Functional Outcome measures. The students are then introduced to the various therapeutic approaches used to treat neuromuscular disorders.
PT in Surgical Condition
The student will have a general understanding of the surgical conditions the therapist would encounter in their practice.
Physiotherapy Ethics, Administration & Rehabilitation
In this course, the student will learn about physiotherapy ethics, administration of the physiotherapy department, and principles of rehabilitation.

The program outcomes refer to the knowledge and capabilities that the student should acquire during his post-graduation and what he will be to do after completion of the post-graduation. The POs of the Master of Physiotherapy program are as follows

- PS1. Develop the ability to perform specialized diagnostic tests while assessing the orthopedics complaints of the patients and formulating the treatment plan accordingly.

- PS3. Develop the habit of including evidence-based practices with knowledge of basic sciences and orthopedic physiotherapy for better management of patients.
