Program Overview
Diploma in Pharmacy, also known as D.Pharmacy is a two-year diploma level program from Top D Pharmacy College in Mohali, Chandigarh, Punjab, designed to prepare candidates to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, pharmacies, and other pharmaceutical-related fields. D.Pharmacy’s first-year syllabus introduces students to core pharmaceutical subjects whereas the second year gives in-depth knowledge and understanding of specific concepts of chemistry, toxicology, human anatomy physiology, and more. In addition, practical lab work facilitates students to apply learned concepts to practice.
Admission Eligibility Criteria
The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of:
Candidates should have passed any of the following examinations in all the optional subjects and compulsory subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and /or Mathematics including English as one of the Compulsory subjects): a) Intermediate examination in Science; The First Year of the three year degree course in Science; 10+2 Examination (Academic stream) in Science; b) Pre-degree examination; any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above exam. Admission of candidates to the Diploma in Pharmacy Part – I shall be made in order of merit on the basis of the ‘Pre-Pharmacy Test’ conducted in accordance with the scheme of Examinations and syllabus laid down by the University.

Curriculum
Pharmaceutics I
This subject is designed to impart a fundamental knowledge on the art and science of formulating different dosage forms. It prepares the students for most basics of the applied field of pharmacy.
Upon the completion of the course the student should be able to:
- Know the formulation aspects of different dosage forms
- Do different pharmaceutical calculation involved in formulation
Pharmaceutical Chemistry-I
This course mainly deals with fundamentals of Analytical chemistry and also the study of inorganic pharmaceuticals regarding their monographs and also the course deals with basic knowledge of analysis of various pharmaceuticals.
Pharmacognosy
The subject of Pharmacognosy deals with drugs of natural sources viz. herbal drugs, their cultivation methods, bio-technological methods, production of pharmaceutical herbal products and their evaluation. The students will develop adequate skill to extract, purify, identify, and know the therapeutic value of herbal/crude/natural products.
Biochemistry & Clinical Pathology
Biochemistry deals with complete understanding of the molecular level of the chemical process associated with living cells. Clinical chemistry deals with the study of chemical aspects of human life in heal illness and the application of chemical laboratory methods to diagnosis, control of treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Human Anatomy & Physiology
This course is designed to impart a fundamental knowledge on the structure and functions of the human body. It also helps in understanding both homeostasis mechanisms and balances of various body systems. Since a medicament, which is produced by pharmacist, is used to correct the deviations in human body, it enhances the understanding of how the drugs act on the various body systems in correcting the disease state of the organs.
Health Education & community pharmacy
In the changing scenario of pharmacy practice in India, Community Pharmacists are expected to offer various pharmaceutical care services. In order to meet this demand, students will be learning various skills such as dispensing of drugs, responding to minor ailments by providing suitable safe medication, patient counselling, health screening services for improved patient care in the community setup.

Perform evaluation of pharmaceutical dosage forms.
Pharmaceutical Chemistry-II
This subject include study of the development of the following classes of drugs including SAR, mechanism of action, synthesis of important compounds, chemical nomenclature, brand names of important marketed products and their side effects.
Pharmacology & Toxicology
This helps the student gain knowledge and scientific information regarding pharmacology of drugs, including the practical aspects of pharmacological screening for various medicinal agents using the appropriate animal model, pharmacology calculations, biological standardisation, and in-vivo drug interactions and toxicity studies are also covered under this subject.
Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence
This subject exposes the student to several important legislations related to the profession of pharmacy in India. The Drugs and Cosmetics Act, along with its amendments are the core of this course. Other acts, which are covered, include the Pharmacy Act, dangerous drugs, medicinal and toilet preparation Act etc. Besides this the new drug policy, professional ethics, DPCO, patent and design Act will be discussed.
Drug store and Business Management
After the completion of the syllabus the students are able to know about,
- Practical steps in solving the problems of the management ofpharmacies and drug stores.
- Set up their own business in the pharmaceutical sector and create the concepts learned into personal practice focusing on professionalism

Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy
In the changing scenario of pharmacy practice in India, for successful practice of Hospital Pharmacy, the students are required to learn various skills like drug distribution, drug dispensing, manufacturing of parenteral preparations, drug information, patient counselling, and therapeutic drug monitoring for improved patient care.
Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to–
- Know various drug distribution methods.
- Know the professional practice management kills in hospital pharmacies.
- Provide unbiased drug information to the doctors.
Pharmaceutics-II Practical

Pharmaceutical Chemistry-II Practical
- Assays of important drugs from the course content.
- Preparation of medicinally important compounds or intermediates required for synthesis of drugs.

- Determination of partition coefficients, dissociation constants and molar refractivity of compounds for QSAR analysis.
Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy Practical
