Program Overview

Bachelor of Science in Nursing abbreviated as B.Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate program that aims at teaching the theories and principles of nursing and allied sciences. The advanced program offered by Saraswati Group of Colleges (SGC), Top B.Sc. Nursing College in Punjab, is designed to upskill aspiring nursing candidates in nursing research & statistics, nursing management, pediatric nursing, and medical-surgical nursing and offer new-age specializations namely Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and Community Health Nursing.

Admission Eligibility Criteria

The minimum education requirement shall be:

  • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year and the maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years.
  • Minimum Educational Qualification
    Candidate with Science/Arts/Humanities/Commerce who have passed the 12th Standard examination (10+2) and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the core/elective/academic subjects taken together and passed English individually. The above candidates should have passed from recognized board under AISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent board.

GENERAL SCIENCE
The course is designed to enable students to refresh their knowledge and understanding gained during the previous education that will enhance their ability to apply the same in nursing practice.

COMMUNICATIVE ENGLISH
The course is designed to enable students to enhance ability to speak and write the language (and use English) required for effective communication in their professional work.

APPLIED ANATOMY
The course is designed to assists student to acquire the knowledge of the normal structure of human body.

APPLIED PHYSIOLOGY
The course is designed to assists student to acquire comprehensive knowledge of the normal functions of the organ systems of the human body.

APPLIED SOCIOLOGY AND PSYCHOLOGY
This course is designed to enable the students to develop understanding about basic concepts of sociology and psychology.

NURSING FOUNDATION 1
This course is designed to help novice nursing students develop knowledge and competencies required to provide basic nursing care for adult patients.

APPLIED BIOCHEMISTRY
The course is designed to assist the students to acquire knowledge of the normal biochemical composition.

APPLIED NUTRITION AND DIETICS
The course is designed to assist the students to acquire basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of Nutrition and Dietetics.

NURSING FOUNDATION 2
This course is designed to help novice nursing students develop knowledge and competencies required to provide using nursing process approach.

NURSING FOUNDATIONS 1 & 2 (SKILL LAB & CLINICAL)
On completion of the course, the students will be able to implement basic nursing techniques.

INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING
This course is designed to help students develop broad perspectives of health, its determinants, about community health nursing and understanding about the health care delivery services, health care policies and regulations in India.

INTRODUCTION TO COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING- PRACTICUM
This course is designed to help students provide basic nursing care in community setting.

APPLIED MICROBIOLOGY AND INFECTION CONTROL INCLUDING SAFETY
Section A (Applied microbiology): This course is designed to enable students to acquire understanding of fundamentals of Microbiology.
Section B (Infection control including safety): This course is designed to help students to on identifying patient safety indicators, preventing and managing hospital acquired infections.

PHARMACOLOGY I
This course is designed to enable students to acquire understanding of Pharmaco-dynamics, Pharmaco-kinetics, principles of therapeutics & nursing implications.

ADULT HEALTH NURSING I WITH INTEGRATED PATHOPHYSIOLOGY (including BCLS module)
This course is designed to equip the students to develop competencies required for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and nursing management of patients.

CLINICAL PRACTICUM
On completion of the clinical practicum, the students will be able to apply nursing process and critical thinking in delivering holistic nursing care.

ADULT HEALTH NURSING II WITH INTEGRATED PATHOPHYSIOLOGY INCLUDING GERIATRIC NURSING (with Health Assessment module)
This course is designed to equip the students to develop competencies required for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and nursing management.

ADULT HEALTH NURSING II – CLINICAL PRACTICUM
On completion of the clinical practicum, the students will develop proficiency in applying nursing process to the adult / geriatric patients admitted in Critical Care Units.

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY INCLUDING GERIATRIC NURSING (with Health Assessment module)
This course is designed to equip the students to make assessment, diagnosis, treatment, nursing management, and supportive /palliative and rehabilitative care to adult patients with various Medical Surgical disorders.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN NURSING EDUCATION
This course is designed to help the students to competencies essential for applying basic principles of teaching and learning among individuals and groups both in educational and clinical settings.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING I
This course is designed for developing an understanding of the modern approach to child-care, identification, prevention and nursing management of common health problems of neonates and children.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING I
On completion of the course, the students will be able tocare to children with common pediatric surgical conditions/ malformation.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING I
This course is designed to develop basic understanding of the principles and standards of mental health nursing.

NURSING MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
This course is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge and competencies in areas of administration, and management of nursing services.

NURSING RESEARCH AND STATISTICS
The Course is designed to enable students to develop an understanding of basic concepts of research, research process and statistics.

HEALTH AND NURSING INFORMATICS AND TECHNOLOGY
This course is designed to equip novice nursing students with knowledge and skills necessary to deliver efficient informatics- led health care services.

INTRODUCTION TO FORENSIC NURSING AND INDIAN LAWS
This course is designed to help students to know the importance of forensic science in total patient care.

CHILD HEALTH NURSING II
This course is designed for developing an understanding of the modern approach to child-care.

MENTAL HEALTH NURSING II
This course is designed to provide the students with basic understanding and skills essential to meet psychiatric emergencies.

This course is designed to help students to practice Community Health Nursing for the family and by applying principles of community health nursing.

This course is designed for students to develop knowledge and competencies on the concepts and principles of midwifery.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING-II
This course is designed to help students gain broad perspective of specialized roles and responsibilities of community health nurses.

MIDWIFERY/ OBSTETRIC AND GYNECOLOGY NURSING I
This course is designed for students to develop knowledge and competencies on the concepts and principles of obstetrical and gynecology nursing.

  • PO1. Step 1 – Signup

Visit sgcollege.edu.in/ SGCADMIT. Sign up or register with basic details (i.e. name, email id, mobile no., state, gender, and password). Login to the SGCADMIT with an already created username/ password. * Your email id will act as your username for the portal while the password will be set by you upon registration.

Step 2 – Book Your Slot

After successfully creating your candidate SGCADMITprofile, you’ll be taken to registration fee page. Pay your fees by logging into the dashboard and complete your profile.

Step 3 – University Examination (PPMET)

After successfully booking the seat, the candidates have to fill the PPMET application form. The link for registration shall be available/sent on your profile and email.

Step 4 – Counselling

Upon successfully clearing the PPMET exam, you have to apply for counseling through your SGC portal, followed by SOP uploading.

Step 5 – Admission

You become eligible for admission into Saraswati Group of Colleges after the declaration of counseling result and submission of requisite fees.
